Fort Myers Beach is getting $400,000 for infrastructure and stormwater improvement projects as part of Florida’s recently approved and signed $117.6 billion state budget.

Of that money, $250,000 is to cover construction costs associated with repairing and improving streets, curbs and sidewalks throughout the Lee County barrier island.

These will be repairs and improvements not already funded.

The other $150,000, according to a statement, will be used to continue the construction of stormwater improvements in and around the Times Square area.

The project, according to town officials, will focus on improving stormwater infrastructure within the downtown business district and mitigation efforts to reduce the impacts of floods in the future.

Fort Myers Beach is still working to recover from the massive damage it suffered during Hurricane Ian September 2022.
