Health care exec named to national board post

FORT MYERS — Samira Beckwith, president and CEO of Hope Healthcare, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Beckwith also currently serves on the board of the NHPCO Hospice Action Network, according to a release. She previously served as an NHPCO board officer in the positions of chair and treasurer, as well as chair of the board of directors for the National Hospice Foundation.

The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization is the largest membership organization that represents hospice and palliative care programs and professionals nationwide.

“Serving in a leadership position helps ensure that I can elevate hospice and palliative care for Southwest Floridians,” Beckwith says in a statement. “Being involved with organizations like NHPCO helps the development of partnerships and opportunities of the evolving model of health care that directly affects people. It's all about helping to improve quality of life and access to care for those in need.”

Fort Myers-based Hope Healthcare is a nonprofit health care organization dedicated to providing care and comfort to families and individuals across Southwest Florida.
