The Hoffmann Family of Cos., whose growing empire ranges from newspapers to a National Hockey League franchise, has bought a yacht club in one of its three hometowns.

The company is the new owner of the Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club near Rookery Bay and Gordon Pass in Naples.

Hoffmann did not disclose a purchase price and property records had not been updated as of Wednesday afternoon.

The property was previously owned by a New York LLC that, according to Collier County records, paid $16.62 million for it in 2021.

According to Hoffmann, Hamilton Harbor was founded in 2008 and has a clubhouse, waterfront dining and a state-of-the-art boathouse. It has direct access to the Gulf via Naples Bay.

The boathouse, the company says, can house up to 325 vessels and was built using tilt-wall concrete construction, “providing superior strength and durability over conventional metal structures.” It was engineered to withstand winds of up to 150 mph and has interior concrete firewalls between bays.

The club also has 25 floating wet slips with dockside pump-out service, shore power and private dock boxes.

The Hoffmann Family of Cos., which operates out of Naples, Chicago and St. Louis, owns more than 200 brands with 600 locations in 30 countries and employs 30,000 people. Its interests include agriculture; aviation and transportation; financial and professional services; hospitality and entertainment; manufacturing; marine; media and marketing; and real estate.

In June, it won approval to buy the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins and locally it plans to open Oberweis Ice Cream locations in Cape Coral and Bonita Springs soon. It bought the Illinois dairy brand in 2024.
