Sarasota gun dealer buys building for $1.65M

A Sarasota gun dealer has purchased a property on Bee Ridge Ridge Road that is one-tenth of a mile from its existing shop. Through an LLC, Shark Coast Tactical bought 2738 Bee Ridge Road for $1.65 million, according to Sarasota County property records.

Most recently, the building at 2738 Bee Ridge Road housed Bitcoin Ben’s Crypto Club. Previously, it was home to a Fred Astaire dance studio. The building spans 4,080 square feet.

The seller is Bolero Inc., which purchased the property in 2007 for $768,000, so the most recent purchase price was 115% what the company paid for it nearly 20 years ago.

Shark Coast Tactical also owns its building across Swift/Tuttle, at 2819 Bee Ridge Road. Through an LLC, the company purchased that site for $1.4 million in 2021, according to Sarasota County property records.

Shark Coast Tactical did not immediately respond to emailed questions from the Business Observer about plans for its new building.

Bee Ridge buzz

A recent commercial property sale on Bee Ridge Road is among five deals to close in recent months along the corridor, which a prolific area broker says signals a shift in demand from other major thoroughfares.

The sale of 2738 Bee Ridge Road for $1.65 million marks the fifth sale American Property Group of Sarasota has handled along the Bee Ridge Road corridor in four months, according to Broker Associate Adam Seidel. Other recent deals include:

On Oct. 16, the former Nick’s Bar property at 4459 Bee Ridge closed for $1 million, according to Sarasota County property records. The liquor license was also transferred, Seidel says. Property records show the buyer is Miami-based Chupacabra LLC.
On Sept. 25, the brokerage sold 3184 Bee Ridge Road, the former Bee Ridge Veterinary Clinic, which merged with Forest Lakes Veterinary Clinic in 2025. The purchase price was $875,000. The new owner — Playfully Empowered Play Therapy & Family Wellness — is currently renovating the space to include play therapy rooms, family therapy and caregiver consultation spaces, a sand tray room and an outdoor sensory garden, according to the licensed social worker and registered play therapist Meghan DeLong, who is launching the business. Completion is targeted for April 2027.
On Aug. 3, the Denny’s property at 3701 Bee Ridge Road sold for $4.25 million to investment and development firm Rich Global, which plans to renovate the space into two or three storefronts.
On July 24, Sarasota Remodeling and Design purchased two retail condo units at 2345 Bee Ridge Road for $1.1 million.

“For years, Bee Ridge was one of the last major corridors in Sarasota that hadn’t turned over," Seidel says. "As Clark Road and Fruitville Road have filled in and pricing there has climbed, buyers and business owners have started looking at Bee Ridge instead. It has central access, established traffic and older buildings that can be repositioned for new uses, and the recent sales reflect that demand.”

Adds Seidel: “We have more in the works."
