A Fort Myers marina has reopened, four years after Hurricane Ian caused extensive damage to the property. Legacy Harbour Marina recently celebrated the completion of its $15 million redevelopment project, which included rebuilding the facility and upgrading its infrastructure.

"Legacy Harbour Marina's reopening is another meaningful step forward in our community's continued recovery from Hurricane Ian," Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson says in a statement. "Our waterfront is an important part of Fort Myers' identity, economy and quality of life. Seeing this marina rebuilt and welcoming boaters once again reflects the resilience of our city and the investment being made in its future."

After Hurricane Ian in 2022, Legacy Harbour Marina owner AIRN Management spent more than two years clearing the 13-acre waterfront property along the Caloosahatchee River. In early 2025, the rebuilding project began.

Now, Legacy Harbour Marina offers 131 slips from 40 to 140 feet, new dock systems, modern utility upgrades and enhanced marine infrastructure at 2044 W. First St.

Jacksonville-based marine construction company Bellingham Marine completed the redevelopment project, which incorporates the company’s patented concrete floating dock system, supported by 70-foot steel piles and interior aluminum-frame dock systems with synthetic decking, according to the statement. Infrastructure improvements include potable water, in-slip pump-out, fire suppression, fiberglass dock boxes and shore power.

Legacy Harbour Marina began welcoming vessels in September, and fuel dock operations resumed in October. The facility held a ribbon-cutting Friday, Oct. 23, attended by Mayor Anderson, Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce President John Lai, elected officials, community leaders and project representatives.

"Having Legacy Harbour Marina back in operation is a tremendous benefit for downtown Fort Myers and our broader business community," Lai says in the statement. "Marinas like Legacy Harbour bring boaters and visitors to our waterfront, supporting nearby restaurants, shops and local businesses. This investment strengthens the connection between our boating community and the River District while contributing to the continued revitalization of downtown Fort Myers."

The marina is owned by AIRN Management and operated under lease with the city of Fort Myers. Coastal Marina Management oversees day-to-day marina operations.
