Tampa General Hospital has named Lijah Lokenauth CFO and executive vice president, elevating an executive who helped manage the health system’s finances through its statewide expansion.
Lokenauth, currently senior vice president of finance at TGH, will become executive vice president and CFO effective Jan. 4, 2027, the health system announced Friday. He succeeds Mark Runyon, who will remain with Tampa General as executive vice president of executive special projects, reporting to President and CEO John Couris.
The transition puts Lokenauth in charge of financial strategy and operations as Tampa General adds hospitals and extends its outpatient network beyond the Tampa Bay region.

Earlier this month, the system took over DeSoto Memorial Hospital in Arcadia, renaming the 49-bed facility TGH DeSoto. The addition brought Tampa General’s network to eight hospitals, nearly 170 care locations and more than 15,000 team members and providers, the hospital says. The facility is DeSoto County’s only hospital.
Tampa General also launched a joint venture with Boston-based Mass General Brigham in January to develop an outpatient network serving Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach counties. The partnership’s first facility, a 10,000-square-foot radiation oncology center in Palm Beach Gardens, opened in September.
Lokenauth worked with Couris and Runyon on both the Mass General Brigham partnership and the DeSoto addition, Friday’s announcement says. Lokenauth joined Tampa General as corporate controller in 2018, then advanced to vice president of accounting and finance before assuming his current role as senior VP of finance.
Before Tampa General, Lokenauth worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he led internal controls and finance teams. He's a CPA and certified fraud examiner.
Runyon joined Tampa General in early 2020. His tenure has included managing the financial effects of the pandemic, raising more than $1.2 billion through bond financing, securing a credit rating upgrade and updating financial reporting across the system, the release says.
Tampa General is a nonprofit health system and the primary teaching hospital for the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine. TGH reported an annualized operating revenue of about $4.1 billion for fiscal year 2025, according to Fitch Ratings.
