Benchmark General Contractors, a Fort Myers company, has won contracts to rebuild two Sanibel Island condominium properties severely damaged during Hurricane Ian in 2022.

The condo properties are the Gulf Beach Condo and Kimball Lodge, and both will be built to meet the latest flood elevation standards as well as hurricane wind codes.

Terms of the contracts were not immediately available.

The Gulf Beach Condo project includes the reconstruction of a 14-unit beachfront condominium community totaling 28,542 square feet. The single-building development is located at 527 E. Gulf Drive.

Construction is scheduled to start in the summer and should be completed within 12 months.

The project is designed by MK Architecture, with engineering by Michael D. Stewart. Doug Hrabik will serve as project manager.

The Kimball Lodge rebuild includes a single building, 31-unit condominium community totaling 26,982 square feet that is located at 3111 W. Gulf Drive.

Construction on the Kimball Lodge has already started, and it is expected to be completed within 12 months.

It is designed by Christopher J. Lee Architects, with engineering by LB Structural Engineering. Jose Castillo will serve as project manager.

Benchmark was founded in 1984 and specializes in commercial and luxury residential projects.
