Miami Lakes-based BankUnited will open a new corporate office in downtown Tampa next year, the company announced.

The new office will open in the first quarter of 2026 inside Park Tower, downtown Tampa’s first skyscraper, at 400 N. Tampa St. The 5,449-square-foot office suite will replace the bank’s current offices at 3801 Henderson Blvd. in Tampa’s Westshore area.

The move represents BankUnited’s commitment to expanding its corporate and commercial banking services, as well as commercial real estate lending throughout the Tampa Bay region, the announcement says.

“The Tampa region is a significant growth area across multiple business segments,” Thomas Cornish, BankUnited’s chief operating officer, says in the announcement. “This move builds on our recent announcements of new corporate banking offices in Charlotte, North Carolina and Morristown, New Jersey, and adds to the momentum of our growth in regions including Atlanta and Dallas.”

With total assets of roughly $35.5 billion, BankUnited decided to grow its investments in the Tampa area because of its strong economy and “exceptional” business opportunities, the announcement adds. It cites a June ranking by Financial Times that listed Tampa as No. 1 among all U.S. cities for international business, citing factors including economic diversity, workforce growth, business climate and quality of life.

BankUnited recently received its own ranking by Newsweek magazine, which named it one of the world’s most trustworthy companies, the announcement says. The national bank is one of the largest independent depository institutions headquartered in Florida and now operates throughout the state, as well as in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Morristown, New Jersey.
