BayCare Health System has landed among the nation’s top-rated employers for workplace culture and community support, ranking No. 21 on People magazine’s 2026 Companies That Care list.
The Clearwater-based nonprofit health system was the highest-ranked Florida health care system on this year’s list, according to an announcement Wednesday. It is the sixth time BayCare has received the recognition.
Compiled by research company Great Place To Work and People, the annual ranking highlights U.S. companies employees say support their workers, communities and the environment while delivering strong business results.
“This recognition belongs to BayCare’s team members, who are our greatest asset,” BayCare President and CEO Stephanie Conners says in the release.
The 2026 rankings drew from more than 1.3 million confidential employee surveys covering the experiences of more than 7.3 million workers at Great Place To Work-certified organizations. Nearly 970,000 responses came from employees at companies eligible for this year’s list, according to the release.
Companies were evaluated using answers to 60 questions on the Great Place To Work Trust Index survey, along with essays describing how they support employees, their communities and the environment. The essays were validated against employee feedback.
To qualify, a company had to be Great Place To Work certified and employ at least 10 people in the United States.
BayCare operates 16 hospitals, including a children’s hospital, and hundreds of other locations across Tampa Bay and Central Florida. Its network includes urgent care centers, laboratories, imaging and surgery centers, wellness facilities and home health services. The organization is also one of West Central Florida’s largest providers of pediatric and behavioral health care.
The People recognition adds to a growing collection of workplace honors for BayCare. The health system has appeared on USA TODAY’s Top Workplaces list for three consecutive years and ranked No. 22 nationally on Fortune’s 2025 Best Workplaces in Health Care list, its ninth appearance.
