CLEARWATER — Allegiant Air announced new nonstop service from Providence, R.I., to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

The year-round service will start Oct. 27 and operate twice a week. The airline is offering introductory fare rates for the route.

“Adding Warwick/Providence, Rhode Island increases Tampa Bay's access to the New England shore and greater Boston area,” says St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport Director Tom Jewsbury in a statement. “We know they will enjoy our beaches, arts, and vibrant lifestyle in St. Pete-Clearwater.”

With the addition of the route, Allegiant will offer nonstop service from 72 cities to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

“We're thrilled to provide Providence travelers with convenient, nonstop flights to St. Pete, Clearwater and the entire Tampa Bay area,” said Allegiant Senior Vice President of Commercial Lukas Johnson in a statement. “The demand to visit this destination is high, and we are excited to provide folks in New England a new, affordable opportunity to experience the award-winning beaches of Florida.”

Allegiant also added a route from Providence to Punta Gorda Airport in Charlotte County.
