HCA Florida Healthcare taps new CEO to lead two Tampa hospitals

HCA Florida Healthcare announced last week that it is promoting a leader from within its West Florida division to take the helm of two of its Tampa hospitals. 

Samuel “Sam” Boadi, the former chief operating officer of HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, has been named CEO of HCA Florida South Tampa and West Tampa hospitals. 

“Sam brings broad hospital operations experience and a strong track record of leading teams through growth, change and performance improvement,” says Jyric Sims, president of HCA Healthcare West Florida Division, in the release. “He successfully supported major infrastructure investments, facility modernization, physician recruitment and initiatives focused on colleague and physician engagement and patient experience.”

Before working in the Brooksville hospital, Boadi served as chief operating officer of HCA Florida Lake City Hospital, the release says. There, he helped guide a significant campus expansion that included growing the hospital’s emergency department, construction of a new ancillary services building, expanding its pharmacy, renovating the kitchen and planning for a future bed tower. 

Boadi has also held leadership roles at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, where he served as vice president of operations and associate administrator. His HCA Healthcare career also includes roles with Parkridge Health System and TriStar Health Workplace Partners. 

Boadi earned a Master of Health Administration from the University of Memphis, a Master of Science in kinesiology from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from the University of Tennessee, the release says. He is a graduate of HCA Healthcare’s Executive Development Program, its inaugural Executive Residency Program and Early Careerist Collaborative.

He is just the latest HCA executive to receive a new position in recent days. 

Last week, former COO of HCA Florida Largo Hospital Mari Elliott was named CEO of HCA’s St. Petersburg and Pasadena hospitals. She replaced the former CEO of HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital Brent Burish, who took over as CEO of HCA Florida Northside Hospital.

Earlier this month, HCA named Steve Young, former CEO of HCA Florida Blake and Englewood hospitals, the new CEO of HCA Florida Brandon Hospital.
