A Lee County native has been announced as the new CEO of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.

Commissioner Brian Hamman will take over as the new president and CEO, relieving Dianna Ryan of her role as interim. She will continue as director of operations for the organization. Ryan stepped into the position of interim role in May after longtime president and CEO Colleen DePasquale accepted a new position as executive director of Estes Chamber of Commerce in Colorado. DePasquale had been with the Fort Myers chamber since 2011.

Hamman will be responsible for directing the chamber and its foundation toward the end goal of promoting growth within the community. He will stay on as the Lee County commissioner for District 4, a position he’s held for nine years.

“Our board of directors has been continually impressed by Brian’s leadership in business and within our community, and his expertise will be an invaluable asset to the growth and continued impact of the chamber,” says Michele Hoover, the chamber board chair, in a press release. “This is an exciting new chapter for the chamber, and we are confident in having Brian at the helm to lead in our mission of connecting, empowering and unifying our members and community across the region.”

The new CEO has had experience as a financial adviser for Edward Jones as well as 10 years in television where he eventually became a news anchor. Hamman graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida Gulf Coast University.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Inc. was established in 1989 as a business organization. Currently, it represents more than 725 businesses, professionals and individuals in Lee County.
