An 87-acre, lakefront estate in Hillsborough County’s Thonotosassa area is on the market for $115 million — a price tag listing agents with One Sotheby’s International say make it the most expensive home in the Tampa area.

The Oaks Estate, at 12321 Fort King Highway in Thonotosassa, was built in 2012 by Lazydays RV founder Don Wallace and comes equipped with a catalogue of luxury features and amenities: two saltwater pools, a regulation-sized bowling alley and retro-style billiards, a lakeside go-kart circuit and state-of-the-art cinema and a dedicated 22-car private automobile museum to name a few.

Illinois-based real estate investor and former oil industry executive Steven Lempera, through an LLC, purchased the sprawling compound for $16.7 million in 2021, Hillsborough County property records show. Lempera later added a 51-acre parcel, which he bought for $3.65 million, to the property, records show. The parcel has greenbelt tax designation and protects the home from future development, the listing says.

According to the listing, from Eddy Martinez and Roland Ortiz of The R/E Team at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, The Oaks Estate is designed in a French Normandy style and sits behind a 36-acre stone-walled perimeter. It can be accessed by helicopter and seaplane.

A private, mile-long jogging trail winds through the estate grounds, which include a guardhouse, staff apartment with full kitchen, fully independent service compound, and wood, metal, and millwork fabrication workshops. A self-contained 1,568 square-foot guest house provides private accommodation independent of the main residence, as does a fully equipped pool house with kitchen, barbecue grill, and dining area, which sits alongside a 72-foot saltwater pool.

The four-story main residence spans more than 36,000 square feet and offers nine bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and 14 half-bathrooms. Visitors enter into a grand salon with arched ceilings and limestone floors, while 12-foot mahogany French doors open onto a lakeside terrace.

The kitchen is anchored by a bespoke La Cornue Château 150 range and supported by a full catering kitchen with exposed wood beams and stone-clad pillars framing the adjoining family room. A gentleman’s lounge, outfitted in solid oak millwork, centers around one of three grand fireplaces and features a bar with climate-controlled wine storage and a concealed projection theater, according to the listing.

The home’s amenities include three bar and lounge areas, an indoor saltwater pool, a professional fitness center with cardio, strength and functional training zones and a spa and wellness center, which includes a dry sauna, steam room, massage suite, and meditation terrace.

By the lake, a private, two-story boathouse offers both boat and jet ski moorage as well as a rooftop entertainment terrace and lakefront rotunda with fire pit at the water’s edge. Other outdoor amenities include a lakeside go-kart circuit with six go-karts.

Equestrian facilities include approximately five acres of grazing land, three paddocks, and a fully appointed six-stall stable. Complementing the professional-grade stables, a ProSeries four-horse walker provides advanced conditioning capabilities, the listing says.

And while the home was designed with a museum-style gallery for Wallace’s 22-car private automobile collection, it also comes equipped with a separate seven car garage for “everyday and overflow vehicles.” A glass-enclosed boardroom sits above the automotive museum within an executive office complex, the listing says, and an approximately 11,000-square-foot automotive facility supports mechanical work and full paint capabilities.

The dedicated executive office complex comes with four private offices, a bar lounge that overlooks the museum, executive bathroom suites, staff quarters and a full staff kitchen.

The home was listed for sale in late April.
