About a week after announcing a series of new flights into the region, Avelo Airlines is at it again.

This time the ultra-low-cost airline announced non-stop routes from McKinney National Airport in North Texas to Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers and Tampa International Airport.

McKinney National is a regional airport about 30 miles north of Dallas. It is introducing commercial service this year and says on its website that Avelo is the first carrier to announce its intention to serve the airport.

As part of that service, the Houston airline is adding four Florida destinations beginning in November. In addition to the two regional flights, it will also fly from McKinney to Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Locally, round trip service to Fort Myers starts Nov. 11 with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In Tampa, round trip service starts Nov. 19 with flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The flights, the release states, will be on 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 jets.

The announcement comes about a week after Avelo announced new flights at Tampa, Lakeland and Fort Myers airports, with service to Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Avelo Airlines flies to and from 35 destinations across 14 states and airports in Aguadilla and San Juan Puerto Rico.

The carrier has four bases around the country, including one in Lakeland.
