Two airlines are adding new routes to their offerings at airports around the region, from Fort Myers to Sarasota and Tampa to Lakeland. Avelo Airlines and Breeze Airways both say the new flights will take off starting this fall.

Utah-headquartered Breeze Airways is adding flights out of Fort Myers and Sarasota-Bradenton over the next several months to destinations including Ohio, New Jersey and Wisconsin.

In addition, Houston-based Avelo Airlines is introducing three new flights this November at Tampa, Lakeland and Fort Myers airports, with service to Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Breeze currently operates more than 300 year-round and seasonal routes to 91 cities in the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

“We built Breeze to connect communities that the other airlines overlook, and today's announcement continues to drive that purpose forward,” Breeze Airways founder and CEO David Neeleman says in a statement on the new routes. “Whether it’s a long weekend getaway or visiting family across the country, our guests now have more affordable, convenient options than ever.”

Avelo Airlines serves 35 destinations spanning 14 states and two Puerto Rican locations: Aguadilla and San Juan. The carrier has four bases around the country, one of which is in Lakeland.

"Avelo continues to listen to our community and respond with opportunities that matter,” Lakeland International Airport Interim Director Adam Lunn says in a statement. “Flights to San [Juan], Puerto Rico have consistently been some of the most popular flights on Avelo, and we are excited to expand our service to Aguadilla.”
