Online used car retailer Carvana is establishing an inspection and reconditioning center in Manatee County and plans to hire 100 employees to support the operation.

Headquartered in Arizona, Carvana enables people around the country to buy, sell, finance and trade vehicles entirely online. It also offers delivery and pickup services. Last year, it sold more than 596,000 vehicles. The company, which trades on the NYSE under the ticker CVNA, posted revenue of $20.32 billion in 2025. Since launching in 2013, it has handled more than 5 million customer transactions.

Before Carvana puts vehicles up for sale, it sends them to its inspection and reconditioning centers, where "our cars are inspected, perfected and photographed," the company says on its website.

"Used vehicles move through a rigorous certification process that includes a thorough 150-point inspection and the completion of any repairs or maintenance required to meet Carvana’s retail standards, followed by full detailing and Carvana’s signature 360-degree photography," a Carvana spokesperson says in an email to the Business Observer.

The Carvana inspection and reconditioning center in Manatee County will be located at 6005 24th St. E., on the 60-acre site where Adesa Sarasota has offered wholesale auto auctions for 20 years. Carvana acquired Adesa and its 56 auction locations in 2022. Wholesale auctions will continue in Manatee County, alongside the new inspection and reconditioning center, according to a statement.

Currently, Carvana is hiring in the Sarasota-Bradenton area for positions like auto body repair technician, automotive painter, automotive cosmetic inspector, automotive shop foreman, auto mechanic and CDL driver. The jobs do not require a college degree.

"We're proud to add approximately 100 jobs to the region and look forward to growing our local team as we improve selection and speed for local customers,” Carvana Senior Vice President of Inventory Brian Boyd says in a statement.

Creating the inspection and reconditioning center in Manatee County will establish a new pool of local retail inventory with delivery operations for nearby customers as soon as the same day, according to the statement. Wholesale buyers will also benefit from on-site inspection and reconditioning capabilities, the statement says.

The Manatee County inspection and reconditioning center will be the second for Carvana Florida, where the company has a similar operation in Haines City.
