Less than a year after relocating from Denver, military defense contractor Orion Edge is expanding its Tampa headquarters, the company announced Wednesday.
Orion Edge plans to invest $6 million into the project over the next three years, according to a release, adding 25 new jobs with an average annual salary of $120,000. The company has already signed a lease for an 8,008-square-foot facility in Tampa’s Westshore District, at 5555 W. Waters Ave. and expects to move into its new office space in early August.
Orion Edge specializes in tactical electronic warfare and counter uncrewed aircraft systems. The company chose to relocate to Tampa from Denver in November 2025 after attending the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference held in the city earlier that year.
"Since relocating our headquarters to Tampa, we've found that the region's strong business climate and close proximity to the United States Special Operations Command have been instrumental to our continued growth and success," says John Mueller, CEO of Orion Edge, in the release. "Expanding our headquarters reinforces our investment in Tampa and positions us to continue growing our team and capabilities for years to come."
Orion Edge worked with the City of Tampa and the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council to relocate company headquarters, the release says. The Tampa Bay EDC also played a key role in the company’s decision to expand its operations in the region, providing demographic and market analysis data to company leaders.
"Orion Edge's expansion is further proof that Tampa and Hillsborough County's defense tech ecosystem is hitting its stride," says Archie Collins, CEO of Tampa Electric and Chairman of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, in the release.
Orion Edge plans to announce a public ribbon cutting ceremony after moving into its new office space, the release says. Joanne LeBlanc of Colliers represented the company in the commercial real estate transaction.
