A multimillion-dollar expansion project is complete at a marina in Cape Coral. Tarpon Point Marina has added 46 newly constructed slips and now offers 265 slips in all, accommodating vessels up to 85 feet with special accommodations available for yachts up to 120 feet.
Tucked off the Caloosahatchie River near the Gulf, the marina is situated within a protected deep-water basin featuring depths of 8 feet to 12 feet.
“This expansion strengthens Tarpon Point's position as a premier destination along Florida's Gulf Coast," Tarpon Point Marina General Manager Stephanie St. Romain says in a statement. "Whether guests are arriving by land or by water, we are creating more opportunities than ever to experience everything this remarkable waterfront community has to offer."
Fort Myers-based Golden Marine Systems designed the expansion, while Kelly Brothers Inc. of Fort Myers built the expansion and new dock, a spokesperson says, noting it took several weeks to build the dock extensions and a month to erect the new dock. The cost was "several million dollars," the spokesperson says. The project had been planned for years.
While the new dock and extensions were permitted in 2022, the marina shifted focus after Hurricane Ian to repairing and addressing other docks impacted by the storm. With that work complete, the spokesperson says, the marina was able to focus on the planned expansion.
The newly expanded Tarpon Point Marina provides 570 feet of complimentary side-tie docking for up to two hours for those visiting the marina's restaurants, shops and waterfront businesses.
The marina is also adjacent to The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, which launched a “Dock & Stay” package that enables guests to book a guest room and secure a dock slip at the same time. A two-night minimum stay is required at the hotel, which was originally designed as a luxury condominium and features 308 guest rooms and suites overlooking the Caloosahatchie River, San Carlos Bay and the Gulf. The package starts at $317 a night plus a $40 resort fee for a total starting rate of $347 per night.
"At The Westin Cape Coral, we believe some of life's best moments happen on the water," Robert "Bobby" Nokley, general manager of The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, says in a statement.
"The expansion of Tarpon Point Marina strengthens the connection between our resort and the vibrant waterfront community that surrounds it,” Nokley says. “Whether guests arrive by car or by boat, they can experience the unique blend of relaxation, recreation, dining and waterfront well-being that makes this destination unlike anywhere else on Florida's Gulf Coast."
