The University of South Florida Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education has launched a resilience and self care video series taught by Sarasota resident Bob Delaney, a former undercover law enforcement officer and NBA referee.

The series, according to USF, is designed to help “individuals in high-stress professions strengthen their mental wellbeing (and) manage stress and burnout.” Titled “Build Strength from Within,” it costs $19.95

The program, say school officials, takes resilience and self-care beyond buzzwords. Designed, in part, for executive leadership, participants will learn to recognize the early signs of stress and burnout; practice actionable self-care techniques rooted in psychological science; and build a customized resilience toolkit tailored to high-pressure environments.

Participants can access content anytime, anywhere, at their own pace, and also earn a USF-issued digital badge credential.

In addition to executives, the program, the release states, is designed for military personnel and their families; first responders and law enforcement professionals; athletes and athletic staff; and nurses and the health care community.

"The University of South Florida has a long-standing commitment to supporting our veterans, first responders and military-connected students,” USF President Rhea Law says in the release. “This video series helps address an important issue, and we hope it serves as an invaluable resource for those seeking additional support.”

Delaney, meanwhile, brings decades of real-world expertise to the program. As a former New Jersey State Trooper who worked undercover infiltrating the mafia, and later as a celebrated NBA referee, Delaney has lived through intense professional stress and personal trauma. Delaney joined USF in 2023 with a mission to advance leadership and mental wellness. "Everyone deserves the tools and support to stay healthy — mentally and emotionally,” Delaney says in the statement. “Self-care does not mean selfish.”
