New nonstop service from Tampa to Key West on Breeze Airways kicked off today.

This new route will operate weekly on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, according to a statement from the Salt Lake City-based airline.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Breeze’s inaugural flight from TPA to Key West,” Tampa International Airport CEO Michael Stephens says in the release. “This nonstop route, which connects the Tampa Bay region to the Florida Keys, opens the door to new tourism opportunities while giving travelers easy access to one of Florida’s most iconic destinations. We look forward to supporting Breeze in its continued growth at TPA.”

The new flights from Breeze come a day after Silver Airways shuttered operations, including flights from Tampa International Airport to  Fort Lauderdale, Pensacola and Key West. Fort Lauderdale-based Silver filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
