This month a new deputy county administrator for Manatee County is stepping into his new role.

In the position, Mitchell Teitelbaum will oversee the county’s day-to-day operations. His appointment was approved by the County Commission in November.

“This rounds out the redesign of Manatee County Government,” County Administrator Scott Hopes says in a release. “It aligns various departments and divisions with deputies’ experience, skillset and education.”

Human resources, economic development, magistrate hearings for code enforcement, public records, information outreach and Transit and Fleet Operations all fall under the umbrella of Teitelbaum's responsibilities.

“I am so delighted to continue my public service to this community,” Teitelbaum says in the release. “I am thankful to the county administrator and the board of county commissioners for this opportunity to continue to serve the people of Manatee County.”

Previously, Teitelbaum was the general counsel for the School District of Manatee County for over eight years. There he also served a short stint as assistant superintendent, which was added to his role in March 2022.

County commissioners also approved the promotion of Sheila McLean from interim to CFO. She’s been the county’s interim CFO since May.

“She is an exceptional resource,” Hopes says. “This confirmation is long overdue.”
