After gaining some experience with other Habitat for Humanity organizations in the state, Bernie Quinn is coming to Manatee County as the new president and CEO of the Bradenton-based nonprofit.
Quinn will step into the role with Manatee Habitat on April 25, according to a statement. The organization is currently busy with building four homes in Palmetto and expected to break ground soon on its 16-home green community project, Poling Gardens, in Samoset. Quinn is the former development director of strategic partnerships for Habitat in Lee and Hendry counties, the release adds.
“His long history of involvement with community organizations and developing responses to address community issues fits well with our mission to expand our response to the ever-growing need for affordable, sustainable housing in our community,” says Roger Arnholt, chair of the board, in a statement. “He is a proven leader, able to connect passion with purpose with staff, volunteers and community partners."
The volunteer-based organization provides families and at-risk veterans with opportunities for affordable home ownership.
“I am honored to work alongside the dedicated staff, volunteers and donors of Manatee County Habitat for Humanity during this crucial time of need for decent and affordable housing,” Quinn says. “Together we will continue the excellent work of Habitat for Humanity, ‘building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter’ for hard-working families here in Manatee County.”
