FORT MYERS — Spirit Airlines, a leader in the low-cost airline industry, launched a marketing push for its new nonstop service to Fort Myers and Tampa from Pittsburgh and Hartford, Conn.

“With Old Man Winter right around the corner, Spirit Airlines is bringing the heat and its ultra-low fares to Connecticut, western Massachusetts and western Pennsylvania with new seasonal service to Florida's Gulf Coast,” the airline states in a Nov. 7 release.

Spirit's daily, nonstop service from Hartford's Bradley International Airport and Pittsburgh International Airport to Tampa International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers begins Nov. 9, the release adds. Spirit is also delivering a new winter escape to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, with new daily service to Palm Beach International Airport.

“We know that when the temperatures drop in the north, our guests need more ultra-low cost options to escape the cold,” Spirit Airlines Vice President of Network Planning Mark Kopczak says in a statement. “Spirit's new service to Florida from Hartford, Pittsburgh and Chicago, coupled with our resuming seasonal service to warm weather destinations, delivers on our promise to be the leader in vacation savings for leisure travelers.”

Spirit Airlines operates more than 450 daily flights to 60 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. For the winter season, the airline will serve 16 cities with 18 daily flights out of Tampa and 11 cities with 15 daily flights out of Fort Myers.
