FORT MYERS — Lee Memorial Health System named Dr. Scott Nygaard chief medical officer.
Lee Memorial is one of the largest public health systems in the state, with 1,423 beds in four acute care hospitals and two specialty hospitals. The Fort Myers-based hospital system also operates outpatient centers, walk-in medical centers, primary care and specialty physician practices.
“Scott is well-respected and has built collaborative relationships with physicians and co-workers that demonstrate great leadership,” says Larry Antonucci, chief operating officer of Lee Memorial Health System, in a statement. “We have every confidence in his ability to lead engagement strategies that will support a successful transition to a value-based care model.”
Prior to joining Lee Memorial in 2010, Nygaard served as the senior vice president for corporate services at Via Christi Health System in Wichita, Kan. He also served as chief medical officer for Affinity Health System in Appleton, Wis.
“I'm excited to have the opportunity to help lead Lee Memorial Health System into the future, developing a clinical strategy with the support of our physicians, which will improve safety and transform the way care is delivered,” says Nygaard, in a statement.
