FORT MYERS — Florida SouthWestern State College is offering a new certificate in audio technology to prepare students for the music and entertainment industry.

Graduates of the program will train for jobs such as recording technicians and engineers, sound technicians in live or studio positions or audio-visual editors and designers in various music'related fields, broadcast media, film and multi-media.

The department of music and fine arts established the program as part of the college's workforce initiative to prepare interested students for careers in the music and entertainment industry. Faculty will teach the classes at Thomas Edison Campus in Fort Myers

“We found that prospective students sought out training in these specific areas,” says Emery Alford, dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, in a statement. “The music department faculty here at FSW made it a reality thanks to support from our administration and state grant funding.”
