NAPLES — Hodges University named Donald Wortham president of the private university.
Wortham will take over from David Borofsky, who became interim president when Jeanette Brock retired in 2014. Borofsky led the Naples-based university while a search for a new president was underway.
Most recently Wortham was vice president of strategic initiatives and executive director of extended studies at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. Wortham earned his doctorate and master's degrees in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Before attending graduate school he graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in history and the literature of religions.
“Donald Wortham is the kind of leader who we envisioned when we launched our search for the next president of Hodges University,” says John Agnelli, Hodges chairman of the board of trustees, in a statement. “His depth of experience in new delivery models and track record of pursuing innovation is a strong fit with the university's needs at this important juncture in its history.”
Founded in 1990 as International College, Hodges University has campuses in Naples and Fort Myers with about 1,900 students. Naples residents Earl and Thelma Hodges made a gift to the university, and it was renamed in their honor in May 2007.
