Builders Exchange recognizes Stephen Sutter with Lifetime Achievement Award
Stephen Sutter, the chairman of Sarasota-based Sutter Roofing, received the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Gulf Coast Builders Exchange. Sutter took over his father's business, Sutter Roofing, at the age of 28. The company now has five offices statewide, employs more than 275 people and generated $33.4 million in revenue last year.
Created in 1952, the Gulf Coast Builders Exchange works to promote and strengthen the relationships between construction industry trades and the development industry.
Naples property appraiser named Appraisal Institute chapter president
Michael Jonas of Naples was elected the 2015 president of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The chapter serves 36 Florida counties on the west coast of Florida from Pensacola to Naples.
Jonas is the managing director of Southwest Florida for Capstone Valuation Advisors in Naples, and has been an appraiser for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Capstone Valuation Advisors late last year, he was director of Integra Realty Resources Southwest Florida.
Hann Powerboats sells two boats to Air Force
Sarasota-based Hann Powerboats has delivered two Hann 27 High Performance Patrol Craft to the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach. The Hann 27 HPPC can run on patrol at 30 knots and sprint at around 53 knots. Even on one engine, these boats can move safety at 30 knots.
Kinderhook Industries' fund buys Clearwater's CSDVRS LLC
New York City's Kinderhook Industries LLC announced that one of its funds has acquired Clearwater-based CSDVRS LLC from M/C Partners, Providence Equity Partners and Communication Service for the Deaf. CSDVRS is the first platform investment for Kinderhook Capital Fund IV, a private equity fund with $500 million of limited partner capital.
The purchase represents Kinderhook Industries' 21st transaction in the health care sector.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
CSDVRS operates two business segments, ZVRS and Stratus Video Interpreting, both of which involve video conferencing for interpretation services. ZVRS or Z-Video provides video relay services to the deaf and hard of hearing over video telephones or similar devices such as iPads, via American Sign Language interpreters. Stratus provides video remote interpretation services to people with limited English skills related to the health care, legal and enterprise markets.
“Kinderhook's extensive health care experience will enable us to pursue our next stage of growth,” Sean Belanger, CEO of CSDVRS, says in a press release.
GE Capital provided financing for the transaction.
Truck It Smart application pre-installed on Rand McNally new trucker tablet
Haines City-based Truck It Smart LLC announced an agreement for its freight-matching software to be preloaded on Rand McNally's new TND Tablet for professional drivers. The recently announced in-cab device combines specialized GPS technology with preloaded trucking applications and access to the Android marketplace.
Truck It Smart LLC operates a freight logistics service that allows users to connect to a network of North American shippers, truckers, distributers, freight brokers and forwarders.
ConnectWise buys ScreenConnect to integrate with LabTech
Tampa-based ConnectWise has acquired Raleigh, N.C.-based ScreenConnect, a stand-alone remote control product.
ScreenConnect offers a service that allows computers or other devices to access another computer or device anywhere in the world. Following the acquisition, ScreenConnect will remain headquartered in North Carolina and will is planning to expand.
ScreenConnect will be offered free of charge with a new release of ConnectWise's IT support/maintenance automation software LabTech.

Saint Leo University's board of trustees has appointed Dr. William Lennox Jr., the former superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy, as the ninth president of the university, effective this summer.
A retired U.S. Army three-star lieutenant general, Lennox became the Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy in 2001. He remained there until 2006.
From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Lennox served as senior vice president at Goodrich Corp., a Fortune 500 aerospace firm, in Washington, D.C.
Since 2008, Lennox has been a member of the Saint Leo University board of trustees and has served as chairman of the academic affairs committee.
