National homebuilder Taylor Morrison has named Mike Carlo president of its Sarasota division. The appointment comes as the builder is developing two communities that are expected to bring a total of more than 2,000 homes to the Sarasota area in the next year.

Carlo has more than 25 years of industry experience, according to a statement. Previously, he worked for Richmond American Homes as senior division president of Orlando and Jacksonville. Before that, he was president of CenterPoint Properties, a real estate investment and development firm and vice president of sales and land acquisition for Lennar’s Northeast Florida operations.

"Mike is a proven leader with an impressive track record of operational excellence and strategic growth across several homebuilders," Taylor Morrison Area President Steve Kempton says in a statement. "We are thrilled to welcome him to oversee our Sarasota division and are confident that his experience in driving growth, leading high-performing teams and executing thoughtful land and sales strategies will further strengthen our position in the region."

Taylor Morrison, headquartered in Arizona, has seven open communities within its Sarasota division and plans to open two more in the next year, according to a statement: Esplanade at Wellen Park, which recently launched sales, will include 877 single-family homes, and Esplanade at Cammaray Lakewood Ranch, which will deliver 1,200 single-family homes and condos, starting in 2027.

Among the communities in the Sarasota division that are open and selling are Tiburon, The Towns at Skye Ranch, The Towns at Tiburon, Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch, Cassia at Skye Ranch and Esplanade at Skye Ranch, according to a Taylor Morrison representative, who says that the company's Sarasota division includes all of Sarasota County and the part of Manatee County south of the Manatee River.

"I look forward to building upon the strong foundation the Sarasota team has established and continue delivering exceptional homes and customer experiences," Carlo says in a statement.

Taylor Morrison posted $7.76 billion in revenue from home closings in 2025. It had nearly 13,000 closings last year with an average sales price of $597,000.
