Steven Walsh has been appointed CEO of Sarasota Arthritis Center. Walsh, who had been the organization’s CFO since 2024, assumed his new role July 7.
As CFO, Walsh oversaw strategic planning and drove operational efficiencies for the healthcare provider, according to a statement. Sarasota Arthritis Center has three locations across Manatee and Sarasota counties that provide care to adults with rheumatic conditions.

“Steve has been a steady, thoughtful and trusted leader since joining our organization,” Managing Physician Partner Dr. Cindy Johnston says in the statement. “His ability to balance financial rigor with a deep understanding of our clinical mission and vision have made him an invaluable partner. We are confident in his ability to guide Sarasota Arthritis Center into its next phase of growth.”
Walsh's previous experience includes financial leadership roles at Massachusetts General Hospital; providing fractional CFO consulting services to healthcare practices and startups; and roles in finance at State Street Bank, Clarks, Boar’s Head and FleishmanHillard, according to the statement.
As CEO, Walsh will lead Sarasota Arthritis Center’s continued expansion and commitment to high-quality rheumatologic care, according to the statement. Among the areas targeted for growth are the organization's clinical research and osteoporosis programs, a spokesperson says in an email. Additional initiatives include recruiting and developing rheumatology providers, strenghthening the workforce pipeline through partnerships and increasing access to care through telehealth and digital tools.
“Sarasota Arthritis Center has built a strong foundation," Walsh says in the statement, "and I look forward to advancing our mission of delivering outstanding rheumatologic care while supporting sustainable growth and innovation.”
Sarasota Arthritis Center was founded in 1977. It operates the Sarasota Arthritis Center on Versailles Street, Venice Arthritis Center on Jacaranda Boulevard and Bradenton Arthritis Center off State Road 70.
