John Annis, a longtime community leader who served as interim president and CEO of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, has been named the organization’s third-ever permanent leader.

In 2025, Ennis began serving as a senior advisor on a five-year path toward retirement before filling in for John Brothers, who left the foundation as CEO after four months.

Annis joined Barancik Foundation in 2017 as senior vice president of collaboration and impact.

“I’m grateful for the confidence that the Barancik Foundation Board has placed in me, and I’m even more excited about the work ahead,” Annis says. “We have a talented team, an engaged Board, and extraordinary partners throughout this community. My focus is on honoring Chuck and Margie’s legacy while continuing to make Barancik Foundation an even stronger and more effective philanthropic partner.”

Brothers, and now Annis, succeed Teri Hansen, who retired from the foundation in 2025 after more than 10 years as its startup CEO.

Under her leadership, the foundation has grown significantly to an endowment of nearly $800 million, awarding more than $30 million in grants annually with a focus on education, humanitarian causes, arts and culture, the environment and medical research.
