Changes are coming to a handful of Walmart stores around the region, from Tampa to Estero. This year, the world's largest retailer plans to remodel 58 stores in Florida, including several on the Gulf Coast, to modernize in-store and digital shopping experiences for customers.
Layouts, technology and services will be updated for a “more intuitive, convenient experience,” according to a statement. A store-based app will enable customers to more easily navigate stores and book services, such as at Walmart’s Auto Care Center. Expanded services will include upgraded pharmacies with free pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ subscribers and vision centers designed to provide more privacy. The remodeled stores will have interactive displays, more healthy foods and on-trend items and offer "elevated brands," according to a statement.
Stores in the Gulf Coast region that will be remodeled include the following:
“By modernizing our store, we're making shopping easier, whether customers are walking the aisles, picking up an order on the go or having essentials delivered when life gets busy,” Walmart U.S. Southeast Business Unit Senior Vice President Nick Berkeley says in a statement.
In the past five years, Walmart says it has invested $1.5 billion to upgrade Florida stores. This year alone, it plans to remodel 650 supercenters and neighborhood markets nationwide, creating construction jobs as well as positions in retail, pharmacy and store leadership.
Walmart posted revenue of $713 billion in fiscal year 2026. It employs 2.1 million associates worldwide at more than 10,900 stores.
