Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank, the seventh largest bank in the U.S., has named a new regional president for its West Florida market amid plans to expand and modernize its branch network in the state.

C.J. Mintrone was appointed regional president for the bank's newly reconfigured West Florida market, which spans from Tampa Bay to Naples, the bank announced Monday. Mintrone will also retain his current role as head of Corporate Banking for West Florida.

The bank has also named Chris Kalin as head of the expanded North and Central Florida market, combining the two regions and adding in the Orlando metropolitan area.

"Florida remains a priority growth market for PNC, and this realignment reflects our long-term commitment to serving clients, supporting communities and investing in our organization throughout the state," says Jim Hansen, Southeast territory executive for PNC, in the release.

The changes come as PNC Bank, which has approximately $603 billion in total consolidated assets, prepares to expand its presence in Florida, which it calls one of the nation’s fastest-growing states. The bank has announced plans to add nearly 100 new branches throughout the state by 2030, part of a $2 billion investment to expand its share of key U.S. markets.

Of those, more than 40 new branches are planned to open across the Tampa Bay, Polk County and Southwest Florida regions, the release says.

Mintrone has more than 20 years of industry experience, including 15 years at PNC, according to the release. “He has built strong business and community relationships throughout the region while consistently demonstrating a commitment to collaborative leadership,” the release says.

The realignment coincides with the departure of Chad Loar, who has accepted an opportunity outside of PNC after a decade serving as PNC regional president for West and Central Florida. Loar played a significant role in elevating PNC’s brand and market presence during his tenure. "We are grateful for Chad's many contributions to PNC over the past decade and wish him the best in his next chapter," Hansen says in the release."
