Walmart has bought five Florida properties within the past month, including one site in south Sarasota County and another in Pasco County.

The properties total 137 acres and cost the retailer $45.18 million.

According to LQ Commercial, which represented Walmart and announced the deals, the purchases “reinforce Walmart's aggressive expansion strategy in Florida.”

The Venice property is 22 acres at the northwest corner of Twin Laurel Boulevard and Laurel Road, just east of Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice.

In Pasco, it bought a 0.95-acre parcel at 10193 County Line Road in Spring Hill, just off State Road 589.

LQ did not provide details on what the retailer’s plans were for the individual properties nor did Walmart.

The other properties the company bought are:

  • 101.5 acres along U.S. Highway 331 in Freeport
  • 9.3 acres at 3535 S.E. Maricamp Road in Ocala
  • 35 acres at Highway 98 and Henderson Beach Boulevard in Destin

Peter Klein with LQ Commercial brokered the deals and is a former real estate director for Walmart.

In the deal announcement, LQ says he is the company’s exclusive site selection representative in Florida.
