The Florida Aquarium has hit a big milestone: It welcomed more than 1 million visitors for the second consecutive year in 2024.

The downtown Tampa aquarium, which opened in 1995, first surpassed the 1 million guest mark last year. It marked that accomplishment with a ceremony Dec. 19, 2023 according to a statement. In 2023 the Aquarium also launched a $45 million expansion project.

“The Florida Aquarium continues to thrive, reaching historic milestones and enriching the lives of our guests through conservation, education, and unforgettable experiences,” President and CEO Roger Germann says in a statement. “Welcoming one million guests for a second year in a row is a testament to the dedication of our team, the investments we’ve made and the community’s excitement for their Florida Aquarium.”
