Inspired by the emphasis on employee creature comforts at tech giants like Google and Facebook, Tampa-based health care technology firm MHK — until recently it was known as MedHOK, short for Medical House of Knowledge — has moved to new corporate headquarters at 3031 N. Rocky Point Drive West.

In a press release, the Hearst Health Network subsidiary says it also revamped the space, unveiled April 30, with an eye toward building a world-class organizational culture that will help it recruit and retain “the best and brightest professionals.”

Some of the “Google-like” features include a gym with lockers and showers; free rides to and from the airport for employees and clients; a café and restaurant with on-demand catering; and a quiet room set aside for meditation and relaxation.

The project increased MHK's Tampa footprint — the company also has offices in Madison, Conn., and Cheraw, S.C. — from 19,000 to 30,000 square feet, the release states. It was designed by St. Petersburg-based CMK Design Studio, built by Tampa-based iConstructors and represents an upgrade from Class C to Class A office space, the release adds.

“It is rare to have the opportunity to work with a professional designer and a world-class builder to completely design our workspace from the ground up, including new furniture specifically chosen to match our design,” states MHK President Gary Stuart, who joined the firm last year, in the release. “We are fortunate to have our parent company, Hearst, support the investment to upgrade our office, which will provide a ‘destination-like’ workspace for our associates.”

In addition to the physical changes, MHK also updated its brand identity with a new logo created by the Tampa office of health care marketing company Levo Health.
