SARASOTA — Karins Engineering Group has announced a promotion and two new hires.
John Bonacci was promoted to vice president of engineering. According to a press release, he has been a director at Karins since 2004. As the company's technical leader, he will expand his involvement in industry organizations. Bonacci will also educate the staff on current thinking and help influence laws, standards and codes in Florida.
Thomas Hagood Jr. was hired to be vice president of design — business development. He has more than 45 years of experience in structural engineering design, management and business development. Hagood is licensed in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina and Ohio. He will work on the executive committee toward continued firm-wide growth of the structural engineering design business.
Jerome DiMercurio was hired as engineering manager for Sarasota. He has 35 years of experience in building design, project management and design office management. DiMercurio is licensed in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and
North Carolina.

"Their experience spans all sectors, and they have designed virtually every building type including commercial, office, health care, government, parking, educational, hospitality, sports and mixed-use, including mid and high-rise structures."
Karins Engineering Group provides engineering design, building restoration and investigation and analysis services. It was founded in 1999. Karins is headquartered in Sarasota and has offices in St. Petersburg, Tampa, Naples/Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Daytona Beach. It has a staff of about 60 people.
