The latest company to delve deeper into the make-your-own market?

Venice-based Tervis.

The insulated drinkware company introduced a new feature to its Osprey factory store — a hands-on Tervis experience that allows customers to make their own tumblers.

“It's about creating a customer experience now,” Tervis Marketing Project Manager Brian Thoennissen tells Coffee Talk.

The new addition to the store was unveiled at an Oct. 12 event by Tervis President Rogan Donelly. It's now regularly available for store customers.

Those who would like to make-their-own can choose between two Tervis tumbler sizes — 16 ounces and 24 ounces — and a variety of design options. Tervis offers different films with designs for inside the cup, including flowers, holiday and Tervis-themed graphics. The store also has patches customers can attach to their tumbler using an air pressure machine. People can add drawings and signatures inside the tumbler with permanent markers as well.

When the decorating process is complete, Tervis customers can ultrasonically seal the inner and outer parts of the tumbler together themselves using a machine called the “Fun Fuzer.”

In the past, the Fun Fuzer, which is larger but similar in shape to a phone booth, has gone on the road to events such as the NFL Draft, New York Comic Con, Tampa Bay Buccaneers games, NASCAR races and more. The Osprey store will be the permanent home for the make-your-own Tervis machine.
