State officials want to take away any doubts prospective rookie business owners might have in getting going.

Their way there is through OpenMyFloridaBusiness.gov. It's a new website that, according to a statement, provides a step-by-step guide on “licensing a new food truck to opening the doors at a new salon or barbershop.” The site, from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, debuted June 30. It also helps with state tax registration, licensure applications and other documentation.

“This new business information portal will give prospective entrepreneurs an easy checklist for crafting their business, meeting licensing requirements and then opening the doors to their new venture,” DBPR Secretary Jonathan Zachem says in a statement. “The information and assistance needed to get a business up and running in Florida is now a click away. There's never been a better time to start your business in the Sunshine State.”

Zachem's department worked with more than a dozen other state agencies, from the Small Business Development Center Network to the Agency for Health Care Administration, to create the website and related portals. The site includes a checklist to help prospective business owners understand local, state and federal requirements for the selected business category; best practices; and resources for entrepreneurs.
