Delaware is already known as the First State, for being the first of 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution.
Now it can add this factoid: Its residents — by a wide margin over most other states, including Florida — are the most literate on understanding augmented reality, technology that uses a computer-generated view of the user's real world. More than two-thirds of Delaware residents, 67%, say they know what augmented reality is, according to the Augmented Reality Index report from Skrite, an augmented reality social networking app.
That rate trumps Florida, where 44.72% of respondents understand and recognize augmented reality. The Sunshine State ranked No. 42 nationally, the report adds.
Six states, including Delaware, posted scores above 50% for residents who understand augmented reality. The others are: Colorado, with 59%; Maine with 58%; Alaska with 50%; Montana with 50%; and New Hampshire with 50%.
Other augmented reality survey nuggets include:
• Less than half, 46%, say they've used an augmented reality app like Pokemon Go;
• New York, based on the survey at least, is the least literate augmented reality state, with a 34.78% knowledge base;
• Nearly three-fourths of women respondents, 72%, are unfamiliar with augmented reality, while 57% of men are unfamiliar with the technology.
