A dollar in Florida isn't just a dollar.

It's actually $1.09.

The value comes courtesy of a new study from the Tax Foundation, using Bureau of Economic Analysis data. The nonprofit foundation used the most recent BEA national household consumption data to determine how far a dollar goes in each state, plus Washington, D.C. The purchasing power also factors in average income.

Florida, at $1.09, was one of 35 states where the value of $1 exceeds $1. The top state is Mississippi, at $1.15, followed by Arkansas, Alabama and South Dakota, all at $1.14. On the flip side, there are places where $1 is worth less than a dollar. Those include: Washington, D.C., New York and California.
