Health business acquires 30,000 Medicaid members
WellCare Health Plans Inc. increased its Medicaid membership by 30,000 accounts with its acquisition of Advicare Corp.'s Medicaid business.

As part of the transaction, Regional HealthPlus joined WellCare's network in South Carolina, a statement says. Regional HealthPlus has more than 500 physicians and health care professionals, in addition to three member hospitals. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tampa-based WellCare serves about 3.7 million members nationwide. In South Carolina, the company services a total of 77,000 Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members.

Credit union names new top executive
GTE Financial, a Tampa credit union with $1.8 billion in assets, named Brian Best president and CEO.

Best, who has been with GTE since 2010, has been the company's executive vice president and senior vice president, and the chief experience officer, a statement says. He was named acting president and CEO in January, when former CEO Joe Brancucci took a leave of absence. Brancucci officially resigned in March.

In his 20-plus years in the financial industry, Best has led organizations with a focus on finances, operations, lending and marketing. Prior to joining GTE, he worked for Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, a Tampa-based institution with $2.2 billion in assets.

GTE Financial was chartered in Tampa in 1935. The credit union has more than 244,000 members.

Builder brings back former leader
Lee Wetherington Homes named Jack Williams vice president of construction.

Williams previously worked for Lee Wetherington from 1994 to 2005, a statement says. He started as a building superintendent, was promoted to production manager and then served as vice president of construction. Between 2005 and his recent return, Williams worked as a vice president of construction for a national homebuilder.

Lee Wetherington Homes has built more than 4,000 homes since 1974 in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Pest control firm cracks top 20
Sarasota-based Environmental Pest Service, one of the fastest growing pest control firms in the country, has broken into Pest Control Technology magazine's list of the largest 100 companies in the industry.

With $45.7 million in 2015 revenues, a 30% increase over 2014, Environmental Pest Service was ranked 19th on list, a statement says. The company had $13.6 million in revenues in 2013.

This year marks the fifth straight year EPS is in the top 100, with a ranking that has climbed from 82 to 19. It was ranked No. 22 in 2015.

Environmental Pest Service is the parent company of Arrow Environmental Services, North Florida-based Bug Out Service, Atlanta-based Skyline Pest Solutions and North Carolina-based State Pest Control.

Sailing champion joins area business
Offshore Sailing School named sailing champion Robert Brooks director of operations to oversee the company's seven locations.

“His background and successful career in sailing education and racing makes Rob the ideal leader in developing new programs, faculty, branch and resource management as we continue to grow our business,” says Steve Colgate, chairman and founder of Offshore Sailing, in a statement.

Brooks will oversee all of the company's systems and programs. The Fort Myers-based company has taught more than 130,000 people to sail since husband-and-wife team Steve and Doris Colgate founded it in 1964. The company's seven locations are in Florida, the British Virgin Islands, New Jersey and New York.

Brooks has more than 32 years of professional sailing instruction and coaching experience.

Law firm adds partner
Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP named Jayne Skindzier a partner in its Naples office, a statement says.

Skindzier focuses on residential and commercial real estate matters, including sales, acquisitions, leasing, financing and construction. She has experience drafting contracts and loan documents and assists clients with title defects, condominium and homeowner association laws and evictions, among other tasks.

Skindzier becomes the newest partner at Hahn Loeser. The firm, founded in 1920, has more than 130 attorneys working at offices in four states.
