SARASOTA — Dr. Anne Chauvet, founder of Sarasota-based Critical Vet Care, has given up ownership of the animal hospital.

Matthew Lender, an attorney and CPA, purchased the 24-hour emergency and specialty clinic, at 4937 S. Tamiami Trail, a statement says. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Dr. Chauvet, Sharon Brenneman and the team have built an exceptional emergency and specialty hospital,” Lender says in the statement. “I am impressed with their compassion and dedication to providing a high level of care and service, and I look forward to furthering those fundamental objectives while increasing the hospital's specialties.”

Chauvet will remain with the animal hospital as head of neurology and neurosurgery, the statement says. Brenneman, the clinic's practice manager, and the staff will also remain.

“Matt understands veterinary medicine and has an excellent track record of growing strong practices built on the highest medical standards and compassionate care,” Chauvet says in the statement. “I felt that his approach fits well with our passionate care and mission to cure. We have always been a family first hospital, helping other families and their animal companions. That won't change, and now I can focus on what I love, which is neurology and neurosurgery.”
