Stuart Rogel spent 20 years trying to lure companies to the Tampa region and others to stay in town.
The former CEO of the Tampa Bay Partnership, Rogel now has a new gig: helping companies grow.
Rogel will do that through Graylan Ventures, a Tampa-based firm he founded that will work with C-level executives at startups and small and mid-sized businesses on strategy, business development and other tasks. “This is an outgrowth of what I did at the Tampa Bay Partnership,” Rogel tells Coffee Talk. “I've always been interested in the startup side and the entrepreneurial side of economic development.”
Rogel joined the Tampa Bay Partnership in 1994, the year the organization was founded. He left last year. The partnership promotes economic development in eight counties on the west coast of Florida, from Citrus south to Sarasota.
Some of the projects Rogel hopes to work on with clients include managing change within a company, finding new markets for existing products, and connecting young startup leaders with experienced executives. The name of the firm, Graylan, is his daughter's middle name and to Rogel that represents young, ambitious and smart. “I'm really excited about this,” says Rogel. “This is something I've wanted to do for a while.”
