Habitat for Humanity of Collier County is bringing some big hammers for a kickoff party to start a new home for a needy family.

Winston Justice, a former offensive tackle who played for three NFL teams, rounded up some of his former teammates in Naples for a Habitat build party scheduled for Jan. 23. The home will be built at Legacy Lakes, east of County Road 951 and south of Immokalee Road.

Justice played for the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles. The retired player is now a financial adviser with Wells Fargo Advisors in Naples.

Justice says he became involved in homebuilding efforts in Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. He helped raise money for an organization that eventually built 260 homes there. “The impact will last generations,” says the California native.

When Justice retired from the NFL in 2014 and moved permanently to Naples, where he owns a second home, he sought a charitable homebuilding organization and found Habitat. “I went out for a build day and I was sold,” he says. “I saw board members building homes. They're getting their hands dirty.”

The teammates Justice will bring to party include Chris Maragos of the Philadelphia Eagles, Adewale Ogunleye of the Chicago Bears and Chester Pitts of the Houston Texans. “They're a good group of guys who want to make an impact on the world,” Justice says.

There will be an invitation-only private party the night before the kickoff at Naples Luxury Imports. Guests will be able to meet the players and participate in a silent auction.
