Take that, Mickey.
More people have moved to the Cape Coral-Fort Myers area than Orlando, both over the past year and since 2010, a new study shows. Cape Coral-Fort Myers, in total, ranks seventh among the 100 biggest metro areas nationwide for on-the-move migration status, according to the new survey from LawnStarter, a lawn care concierge startup.
The study used data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2014 American Community Survey. To find the top on-the-move cities, the study evenly weighed two data points: percentage of owners who moved into their homes in 2010 or later and percentage of residents who moved into the city within the past year.
Las Vegas, with a 20.8% move-in rate over the past year and a 55.72% move-in rate since 2010, is No. 1 on the survey. Austin, Texas, Colorado Springs, Phoenix and Tucson round out the top five. There are five Florida regions in the top 35 of the list. In addition to Cape Coral-Fort Myers, the list includes Orlando, at 9; Jacksonville at 15; Tampa-St. Petersburg at 28; and North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton at 33.
