FORT MYERS — Shell Point Retirement Community says it plans to build luxury single-family homes and a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse on its campus near the Sanibel Causeway.
The Estuary at Shell Point will be the community's fourth neighborhood and will offer 50 homes, the first one built by Cape Coral-based Aubuchon Homes. The clubhouse will feature a pro golf shop for its existing 18-hole course, dining rooms, a health club, a salon and meeting rooms.
Shell Point is a continuing-care retirement community that promises residents care throughout the rest of their lives in exchange for an entrance fee that will range at the Estuary from $687,000 to $1.08 million. In addition, monthly fees will range from $3,500 to $4,900, depending on the size of the home.
Shell Point was established in 1968 by the nonprofit Christian and Missionary Alliance and has 2,300 residents. In addition to independent living homes, Shell Point operates a 219-bed skilled nursing facility and three assisted-living facilities.
