CAPTIVA — Revenues at hotels in Lee County rose 6.6% in November compared with the same month one year ago, boosted by higher occupancy.

Revenue per available room, an important financial gauge that is a function of average occupancies and daily rates, rose to $55.97 in November from $52.53 in November 2011, according to Smith Travel Research. In 2010, revenue per available room totaled $46.03.

The increase in revenues was due mostly to 6.3% jump in occupancies in November to 53.3%, suggesting that the rebound in tourism continues at a steady pace.

But in an indication that competition remains fierce among hoteliers despite improving conditions, the average daily room rate rose just 0.2% in November to $105.05 compared with November 2011.
