FORT MYERS — Acadia Healthcare Company acquired Park Royal Hospital in Fort Myers for $33.4 million in cash and assumed debt, the company announced.

Acadia Healthcare is a Franklin, Tenn.-based health care company that operates 34 psychiatric hospitals with a total of 2,500 beds in 20 states.

Park Royal Hospital opened in March with 76 beds to treat behavioral health. The facility in Fort Myers can accommodate a total of 114 beds.

“We are very pleased to announce this purchase of a new facility in an attractive, underserved market,” says Joey Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Acadia, in a statement. “Consistent with our acquisition strategy, we believe Park Royal has the potential to produce significant long-term organic growth.”
