FORT MYERS -- Florida Gulf Coast University received a $5 million gift from Dr. Elaine Nicpon Marieb this week in support of the university's health professions educational offerings.
Marieb has written 13 textbooks about human anatomy and physiology. She was the 1994 recipient of the Benefactor Award from the National Council for Resource Development, 25 years after she first joined the Biological Science Division at Holyoke Community College.
“I have been unbelievably successful as a college science textbook author. Many people have helped me along the way and I figured that it was time for me to pay it forward in a significant way,” Marieb explains in a release from FGCU.
