Walbolt article included

in 'Best of ABA Sections'

Carlton Fields PA shareholder Sylvia H. Walbolt and Miami associate Cristina Alonso, co-wrote an article that appeared in the September issue of GPSolo Magazine, a publication of the American Bar Association's General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section.

As part of its "Best of ABA Sections," the magazine published a digest of an article Walbolt and Alonso co-wrote and titled, "Jury Instructions: A Road Map for Counsel." The ABA originally published the article in the winter 2004 edition of "Litigation," the ABA Litigation Section journal. GPSolo publishes compilations of magazine, journal and newsletter articles published by the ABA sections, forums and divisions.

Walbolt, an experienced appellate attorney, serves as chair of the firm's board of directors. She earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Florida.

Alonso practices in the firm's appellate practice and trial support groups. A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Asheville, she earned a law degree from the University of Florida.

Professional association

inducts Richard McCrea

Zinober & McCrea PA partner Richard C. McCrea Jr. is a newly inducted member of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers, a nonprofit professional association. The group promotes excellence in the practice of labor law. A graduate of Rutgers College, McCrea earned a law degree from the Rutgers-Newark School of Law.

hires Jeanette Flores

Jeanette M. Flores is a new shareholder in the Tampa office of GrayRobinson PA. The former Carlton Fields PA shareholder now practices in GrayRobinson's commercial real estate practice group.

Since 1985, Flores has focused on the areas of development, purchase and sale transactions, leasing, financing and title insurance.

She is president-elect of Commercial Real Estate Women of Tampa Bay and serves on the board of directors of the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa.

ABA section elects

Koren as chairman

Holland & Knight LLP partner Edward F. Koren was elected chairman of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section at the group's annual meeting in Atlanta.

At H&K in Tampa and Lakeland, Koren serves as chairman of the firm's private wealth services section. He is board certified in Florida as a wills, trusts and estates lawyer. Prior to this election, he served for two years as head of the ABA's Probate and Trust Division and a year as its chair-elect.

In his new role as chairman, Koren will oversee the work of 99 committees, including 14 standing committees, 52 section committees and 33 probate and trust committees.

A fellow American College of Tax Counsel, Koren earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Florida.

Stetson celebrates Golden

Anniversary with films

Stetson University College of Law has much to crow about during its 50 years in Gulfport and 104 years in Florida. Some is even in the films. Through next month, the college is featuring movies filmed at the campus or related to the school.

"The Strange One," starring George Peppard and Ben Gazzara, was filmed at the school in 1957. It will be shown Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in the college's Great Hall. Admission is free.

Stetson team wins workers'

compensation competition

A team from Stetson University College of Law recently won the annual E. Earle Zehmer Moot Court competition in Orlando.

Stetson students Satyen Gandhi and Theresa Jean-Pierre defeated a team from Florida Coastal School of Law, arguing before Florida's 1st District Court of Appeal.

Another Stetson team, Harley Chivers and Dana Harris, received an award for runner-up best brief.

Attorneys and Stetson alumnae Wendy Harkness and Paulette Zarbatany Brown coached Gandhi, Jean-Pierre and brief writer Amy Miles. Nancy Slack coached Chivers and Harris.

Fowler White attorney chosen

for 2005 Leadership Tampa

Fowler White Boggs Banker shareholder David M. Doney was chosen to participate in the 2005 class of Leadership Tampa. Doney practices in the firm's corporate practices group, where he focuses on corporate and securities law, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, SEC reporting and other business transactions.

In addition, Doney was recently appointed to the board of visitors at The Bolles School in Jacksonville.
